Location searches

A city search is sent to the Open-Meteo geocoding service. A five-digit U.S. ZIP code is sent to Zippopotam. The matching coordinates are then sent to the Open-Meteo forecast service to retrieve temperature and related conditions.

Saved place

After a successful lookup, the place name and coordinates are stored in localStorage on your device under the key currentTempDeskPlace. The next visit reuses that place. Clearing site data in the browser removes it.

Optional geolocation

The "Use my location" control runs only after you click it. If you allow it, the browser provides coordinates and those coordinates are sent to Open-Meteo for a forecast. The page labels that result "Your location." Declining permission leaves the search box available.

Contact email

The contact page is a mail link. Messages you send go through your own email program. This site does not keep a copy of them.

External links and logs

Weather requests go to Open-Meteo, and ZIP lookups go to Zippopotam. Those services have their own practices. The host that serves these static pages may keep ordinary request logs. The site does not use a private weather key.
